History - Who we are

PacOcean Forwarding/Pacific Ocean Ship Management, a California corporation, is a licensed and bonded freight forwarder with headquarters in San Francisco. PacOcean was established in 1994 as an “owner’s representative” office for steamship lines owned and operated by the d’Amico group of Italy, including Italia Line. In 2003, with the many changes in the structure of the container line industry, PacOcean branched into freight forwarding as a separate, independent business activity and currently no longer represents container line owners/operators. PacOcean is experienced in handling all types of shipments and providing a range of quality services for both inbound and outbound shipments: Full Container (Dry, Reefer, Flat Rack) and LCL, breakbulk and project cargo, air freight, consolidation/deconsolidation, trucking arrangement, cargo insurance and so on.  PacOcean is certified to handle hazardous shipments, including radioactive cargo by air.

In January 2013, PacOcean acquired Ohanneson Freight Forwarding which expanded our expertise to the handling of food and farm products exports. PacOcean is an IATA and TSA approved air freight agent and a member- in-good-standing of FIATA, the National Customs Brokers and Forwarders Association of America (NCBFAA) and the Customs Brokers & Forwarders Association of Northern California (CBFANC).
